Brief History of Ebert Welding...

Founded in 1946 by Ken Ebert initially as a welding shop, Ebert Welding was in fact the first John Deere dealer in northern Ontario, taking on the green line in the late ‘40’s.  The Deere line was given up in the late ‘50’s when JD split into separate Ag & Industrial divisions.  However, John Deere retained Ebert Welding services to manufacture front blades for their bulldozer line sold across North America.  Then in 1970 Martin Auger bought the business from Ken Ebert.  Wanting to get back into the farm equipment business Martin took on the then separate Ford and New Holland lines in 1983.

The Auger family’s ties to the farm equipment business go back quite a ways before then however…  Martin’s grandfather Honoré Auger sold Moody, Beatie and Dion farm equipment back in the 1920’s, and his other grandfather Barnabé Cadieux was a harness maker outfitting the draft plowing horses of the day!  Martin’s father Aurélien Auger was a Farmall, International and McCormick farm equipment dealer in Val Gagne from the early 1930’s to the ‘50’s, even winning many top performance sales awards.  And now as fate would have it, with the merging of the New Holland and Case IH companies it seems Ebert Welding is more than ever committed to the area’s farming industry!

Working alongside Martin is his lifelong companion and wife Eva.  And with their son Ian’s longtime involvement and daughter Leanne’s recent return, Ebert Welding Ltd is truly a family business!
